Q + A

What should I wear?

We are requesting formal attire. Gentlemen are encouraged to wear a suit and tie, while ladies can opt for a formal cocktail or floor-length dress. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in style!

Are children invited?

While we love our little ones, due to limited space, we kindly request that our celebration remains an adult-only affair. We hope this decision ensures that all our guests can fully enjoy the festivities. Thank you for your understanding.

Is parking available at the church?

Old St. Mary's (the location of our ceremony) has a parking lot located at the corner of Kilbourn Avenue and Milwaukee Street, directly behind the church building. You can also find street parking in the neighborhood around Old St. Mary's. Mercer Parking garage is a large and easily accessible garage available within ~5 minute walking distance.

Is parking available at the reception venue?

Street parking is available on 8th Street, 9th Street and Michigan Ave, only a few steps away from St. James 1868. Street parking is free all day on Saturdays and Sundays. We have also rented a small lot (45 spaces) at the school adjacent to St. James. It is accessible via the alley off of Michigan or Wisconsin Ave. Note, overnight parking is not available. Additionally, there are two paid public surface lots, the Library Lot and the Wells Fargo Lot, where you can pay to park. Please note, if you fail to purchase a ticket, you will be fined.

Will transportation be provided?

We're still figuring this out :)

What happens after the ceremony?

There will be roughly a two hour window between the end of the ceremony and the start of cocktail hour. If you aren't planning on going back to your hotel, check out our 'Things to Do' page for some of our favorite spots.

What will the weather be like this time of year?

For our friends and family not familiar with Wisconsin weather this time of year, please note the weather can be unpredictable. The past several years, late November weather has been anywhere from mid-30s to mid-50's. Consider bringing a jacket or sweater.
